Virginia Theatre Machine Presents an updated 15-minute version
of "A Christmas Carol" on Duke of Gloucester Street

Merchants Square is pleased to bring back the Virginia Theatre Machine's wildly popular production of Master Thespians’ "A Christmas Carol", starring Ed Whitacre with the able help of Bob the stage manager.

Visitors to Merchants Square will be treated to a hilarious family-friendly 15-minute version of this holiday classic, performed outdoors on Duke of Gloucester Street twice a day every weekend between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Performances are free.

This Victorian era Dickens tale is the perfect compliment to a wonderful day of strolling, shopping, and dining in Colonial Williamsburg’s Merchants Square. Appealing to young and old alike, this refreshingly funny version of the timeless tale of the power of forgiveness is a welcome reminder of the magic the holidays bring.
